Hotel Review
The Pheasant Inn, Higher Burwardsley, Cheshire
If you've mistakenly bought into the notion that Cheshire is an entirely flat county, a trip to The Pheasant Inn will quickly put you right. It's an uphill drive, along narrow lanes, to reach this popular old inn on the slopes of the Peckforton Hills. An attractive little cluster of sandstone buildings set around a cobbled courtyard, it's flanked by a large but well camouflaged car park on one side (very handy) and a big beer garden on the other. This is a popular spot for a country lunch or dinner but with 12 comfortable bedrooms on offer, you can stay over and really make the most of its biggest selling point: a fabulous view that stretches across green fields to the distant Welsh hills.
