It was an assault on the senses to step into the crisp Atlantic for a surf lesson, followed by a wellbeing class on the beach.

This cliff-top hotel sits above Mawgan Porth Beach between Newquay and Padstow.
By car: 1 hour 30 minutes from Exeter, under 3 hours from Bristol and 5 hours from London. Free on-site parking.
By train: London Paddington to Newquay takes around 5 hours. It's a 10-minute taxi to the hotel. thetrainline.com

Style & Character

Perfect for families, there are lots of activities for children to enjoy, as well as having the beach right on the doorstep. We loved the inspiring art displayed around the hotel - from a curated list of local artists - perfectly fitting with the hotel's scheme.

Service & Facilities

It was a joy to get back to nature, and step into the sea air in the Sensory Spa Garden. Relaxing out on the spa terrace, taking in the unrivalled views across Mawgan Porth was a highlight to our stay.

Rooms

The Sea View double stole the show with floor-to-ceiling glass doors leading out to a plethora of sea-meets-sky across the cedar roof tops. It was blissful to fall asleep to the sounds of the waves crashing against the rocks, and wake to a sublime Cornish sunrise.

Food & Drink

Steamed Cornish brill with champagne mussels, sea herbs and Padstow Kitchen Garden brassicas showcases Cornish-fare at its finest. We tucked into delicious tasting menus, showcasing sustainably-caught fish and farmed meat at hyper-seasonal restaurant, Ogo, along with fresh, seasonal produce in The Wild Café.
