WHAT WE LOVE...

Orestone Manor has been owned and run by the local D'Allen family for generations. It was originally the home of famous painter John Callcott Horsley, designer of the first ever Christmas card, and is now a 14-bedroom Georgian country manor house surrounded by sub-tropical gardens in the coastal village of Maidencombe on the outskirts of Torquay. Offering views across Devon's 'English Riviera', it boasts a 2 AA Rosette-awarded restaurant which has won several awards for its locally-sourced food. Many of the rooms and all suites have sea views and some have private outdoor hot tubs.

THE DETAILS

Location

Orestone Manor is nestled between Devon's lush countryside and its picture-postcard south coast, with stunning cliffs and coves straight off the cover of an Enid Blyton book.

Hidden away in greenery, guests might not immediately realise that Torquay is just a 15-minute drive from the hotel.
By car: The hotel is 4 hours from London, almost 3 hours from Southampton, 1 hour from Taunton and 2 hours 30 mins from Cardiff. There is parking at the hotel.
By train: Newton Abbot station is a 13-minute drive from the hotel, accessed from London Paddington within 2 hours 30 mins, 1 hour 20 from Bristol, 3 hours from Birmingham.
