WHAT WE LOVE...

Hotel Cordial Mogán Playa architect Emilio Ferrer is clearly a big fan of Disney films. His playful creations evoke both Mulan and Sleeping Beauty. The brief was to recreate a Canarian village which he does, through the eyes of Walt and his successors. There is a very definite fairytale quality to the hotel which casts a magical spell over guests. An on-site archaeological park, botanic garden, and cats are further quirky features. Mogán is Gran Canaria's most charming resort. The former fishing village has a miniature network of canals which has earned it a Little Venice nickname. The municipality rather than resort is also one of the island's biggest producers with avocado, mangos, papaya, and watermelon grown in the area.

THE DETAILS

Location

Easily the most pedestrianised of the resorts in Gran Canaria, Puerto de Mogán is great for strolling around and window shopping.

You'll find the beach just five minutes' walk from the hotel; the bus station is also minutes away if you fancy a trip out of the resort, perhaps to the capital Las Palmas.
By plane: flights from London, Birmingham and Manchester to Gran Canaria take around 4 hours 30 mins. The hotel is a 35-minute taxi ride from the airport. Free parking on-site. skyscanner.net

Style & Character

A family-friendly hotel that also suits older couples who want a quieter holiday in one of the island's most peaceful resorts. Enter the lobby and you'll see that it resembles a giant greenhouse that has been made up for the cameras.

Food & Drink

A Los Guayres tasting menu speciality teasingly combines manga (bigger and juicier than a mango), Tahiti vanilla cream, and basil. For the morning after the night before, being able to prep your own breakfast Bloody Mary is genius.

Los Guayres: Michelin-star dining, inventive tasting menu, seafood. Open Tues-Sat for dinner.
Tamarone: buffet meals. Open daily for breakfast and dinner.
La Fula and La Sama: pool bars serving lunch.
Bandama and Fataga: evening drinks.
