Nikki Beach, Porto Heli, Greece
WHAT WE LOVE...
It's hard to believe this dazzling luxury beach club-style retreat was once a tired old 1960s hotel. The décor has a 'wow' factor, especially in the lobby, and with just 66 rooms and spacious interiors, it never seems at all crowded. With lots of white, and mirrored walls, it all feels so shiny and new. There's a great collection of books in the lobby to borrow, but not enough to call it a library; beyond is the bar and beachside restaurant. There's another, more formal rooftop restaurant, with stupendous Michelin Star food, a good spa, fitness room, large infinity pool and private beach.
THE DETAILS
Location
Porto Heli is a charming, sleepy backwater surrounded by the protected coves and bays of the Aegean. It has long attracted the Greek smart set and a half-sunk yacht presides over the bay.
If you can prise yourself from the beach, it's a 10-minute walk to the acropolis and archaeological site of Halieis.
By plane: direct flights from London to Athens or Kalamata take less than 4 hours. It's 2 hours 45 minutes' drive to the hotel. Free parking available. skyscanner.net
Style & Character
The hotel suits young, hedonistic party animals. We loved the futuristic lobby - all mirrors, whiteness and curvy funky shapes - it has a definite 'wow' factor.
Service & Facilities
We enjoyed the food at the restaurants - of very high quality - and the décor, especially the lobby.

Rooms
The Luux Room is very spacious and quite flashy with mirrors behind white curtains along one wall, and white panelling along the other. All rooms have a balcony or terrace looking out to the beach restaurant, pool, slim beach and lovely bay.

Food & Drink
The Purple Rain cocktail at Qurio is a riot of gin, violet, lime, açai berries and shiso leaf. The sea bass at the Beach Club restaurant was expertly grilled, accompanied by a generous pimped up Greek salad with caper leaves, Kalamari olives and barrel-aged feta.
Café Nikki: daily buffet breakfast, 8-11am.
Qurio: rooftop restaurant, tapas and live music. Open for dinner and drinks, 7pm-12:30am.
Beach Club: stylish venue, Greek cuisine and poolside cocktails. Open daily, 11am-7:30pm.
