WHAT WE LOVE...

This storied building hosted a litany of legends in its former incarnation as the BBC's Kensington House, and has welcomed a fair few celebrities since. Though the décor is somewhat past its prime this is still a smart space, with touches of decadence throughout its spacious interior. Within striking distance of central London, this is a well-priced base for a break in the capital, especially if you plan on making use of its spa or gym facilities. Bedrooms are decently sized and surprisingly peaceful, despite their proximity to Shepherd's Bush's pubs and music venues. Head to the mezzanine-level Studio Kitchen for a diverse all-day menu, or to the ground floor bar for a dazzling array of cocktails, as well as the occasional mixologists' masterclass.
