Hotel Review
The Buxton, Whitechapel, London
A sister property to the nearby Culpeper hotel and restaurant, this upstart sibling is just as appealing, with 15 rooms sitting over a ground floor bistro that buzzes with locals seven nights a week. Sample cocktails and small or sharing plates made with the best British ingredients, before retreating to the private roof terrace-slash-kitchen garden, which has stellar views over the City. In a nod to the hotel's namesake Sir Thomas Fowell Buxton, who helped raise the living standards of Spitalfields' weavers, bedrooms feature work by local textile designers. A stylish spot to bed down, this bijou hotel is a bit of a bargain for those who plan on spending most of their time out and about in East London.
