Hotel Review
Spot in the Woods, Lyndhurst, New Forest
A bijou B&B with a popular cafe tucked away in the north east corner of the New Forest. Easy access to the M27 makes it a good base to explore the surrounding cities of Southampton, Winchester, Salisbury and Bournemouth, which are all less than 40 minutes' drive away. The business was founded by the late international sommelier Gerard Basset and his wife, but has recently been acquired by Hillbrooke Hotels who run the very popular Master Builder's hotel on Buckler's Hard, so changes may be afoot, including reintroducing evening dining. At the moment simply book yourself into a room and let them make you up a platter of treats for an in-room picnic. You will have a fabulous brunch in the cafe to wake up to.

Style & Character
The hotel is especially popular with hunter-welly wearing walkers and dog owners. We love sitting on the wooden veranda watching the squirrels scamper around the secluded garden.

There is a night porter on duty which means you can order drinks from the bar well into the evening, even after the café has closed. Dogs are allowed in three of the rooms at a charge of £20 per dog, per night and they get a dog bed, towel and chew on arrival.
