WHAT WE LOVE...

Dating back to the 16th-century, this two-storey, white-washed building was once a farm, and is said to have been a smugglers' inn too. It's tucked into a quiet lane on the edge of Thornham village, and is one of the few places along this stretch of coast with direct access onto the coastal footpath. Romantic and secluded, and with open fires, a wood-beamed bar, airy conservatory and spacious down-lit dining area, the public rooms are as much of a retreat as the 13 tranquil bedrooms, some with views over the marshes to the far-off sea beyond.

THE DETAILS

Location

We love having direct access to the coastal path, which takes you through an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.

Surrounded by the marshes and on the edge of the coast, the hotel is the perfect spot for bird watching and walking. The Georgian town of Burnham Market is a 15-minute drive away.
By car: London is 3 hours 15 mins away, Birmingham is just under 3 hours and Cambridge is 1 hour 40 mins. There is free parking at the pub.
By train: The closest station to the hotel is King's Lynn. Trains run from London Kings Cross and take just under two hours. A taxi to the hotel then takes around 40 minutes. thetrainline.com
