WHAT WE LOVE...

Set in a pair of 19th-century stone warehouses around a former wharf and boatyard, the Head of the River is a lively waterfront pub and hotel right in the heart of Oxford. The boatyard is now a beer garden, the bar and restaurant are popular local meeting places. The rooms are individually decorated in a tastefully playful style and rowing memorabilia dots the walls - the hotel is named after the winning boat in the university rowing regatta which finishes just downstream. Oxford's sights, shops and attractions are all within walking distance; you can nip around the back to stroll in Christ Church Meadow or walk along the towpath to a choice of other riverside pubs.
