Hotel Review
The Swan Inn, Ascott under Wychwood, Oxfordshire
Set within the bucolic Cotswold countryside, surrounded by endless rolling fields and a winding River Evenlode, this pub with rooms is in an idyllic location. Alongside this, though, is a restaurant serving exceptionally good food, a wine cellar to rival most major hotels, and a beer garden that buzzes with bees and locals in summer. There's a train station around the corner connecting to London via Oxford, so this hotel is a perfect getaway from the city. Within reach you've also got the resplendent Blenheim Palace, and quaint Cotswold villages like Bourton-on-the-Water and the Slaughters. Bedrooms here are cosy but cute, with lovely 100 Acres toiletries and fresh coffee to boot.

Style & Character
Great for families on a country break or couples seeking solitude and romance. The courtyard garden is gorgeous, with plenty of plants and flowers, and under-cover seating with heaters.
Service & Facilities
We loved having fresh milk brought to our room on arrival for making a cafetière coffee in the morning. Dogs are very welcome in The Swan, with plenty of fuss offered on arrival and tips for local dog walks from the staff. They can also dine with you in the restaurant.

The bread is made just up the road in Chipping Norton and it comes with a fantastic whipped horseradish and dripping butter. The potato terrine with oyster mushrooms and a cheesy broth was utterly spectacular.
