Hotel Review
The Greyhound Inn, Letcombe Regis, Oxfordshire
This 18th-century pub is a fantastic little bolthole on the edge of the North Wessex Downs. The handsome red-brick building sits right in the middle of Letcombe Regis, a pretty village just outside Wantage, and offers a peaceful retreat for keen walkers or families seeking a break from the everyday. Rooms have a homely feel, while dinner is beautifully prepared. At weekends, locals pile in for Friday night dinners and drinks with neighbours, while during the week there's a calmer, more intimate vibe. Dogs and kids are welcome, and there are plenty of family rooms, though there's no access for wheelchair users and no step-free access to rooms for pushchairs.

The personal service on arrival was fantastic - check in at the bar, then the staff will take you to your room and show you around. Dogs - especially greyhounds, of course - are very welcome and there are treats behind the bar. Bowls, towels and poo bags are provided.
