Hotel Review
Hilton, Glasgow, Scotland
Overlooking Glasgow's M8 motorway may not be the city's most romantic setting, but this monolithic exemplar of the Hilton brand is big all round, from the soaring atrium to the generously-sized bedrooms (and beds). Even the views are big, as are the swimming pool and gym. It's neatly poised between the vibrant city centre and Finnieston - once an industrial desert, now one of the coolest places in the city and home to trendy bars, eclectic restaurants and Zaha Hadid's strikingly fascinating (both inside and out) Riverside Museum. And you're only 20 minutes from the airport, with two railway stations within walking distance. No one would call it cosy, but effortless familiarity can free the mind for more exciting discoveries.

We loved standing at the bedroom window, watching the weather roll off the Campsie Fells where the Highlands begin.
Located in the financial district, it's a short walk to the shops and restaurants in the city centre.
