Hotel Review
Lion & Pheasant, Shrewsbury, Shropshire
Immerse yourself in history and modern-day comforts at this 16th-century boutique hotel which offers 22 contemporary-styled bedrooms and delicious two AA rosette dining. Dine on imaginative dishes - salt-baked celeriac with seaweed sauce - under low oak beams in the Inglenook restaurant before retiring to the lively bar for a night cap. Grey panelling, décor in a neutral palette and flowing white drapes provide a relaxing ambience in the bedrooms - a king-post trussed roof and stand-alone roll-top bath in the Loft and four-poster beds provide an extra touch of romance. Flagstone floors, oak beams and vintage fireplaces blend seamlessly with modern furnishings, bedside reading lights, a retro Roberts radio and a docking station.
