WHAT WE LOVE...

This immaculately-presented former hunting lodge is surrounded by the Somerset countryside and overlooks a smart village green. It is an attractive, Grade II-listed building, with caramel-stone window surrounds, neat topiary and picnic benches facing the green. Inside, the long wooden bar is laden with spirits and gins, while tables for dining or drinking are dotted about the spacious interior, which is painted dark blue. The nine bedrooms are decorated in a simple country style and some have views of the green. The food is good and makes great use of local produce. The terraced garden is lined with lavender beds and offers an appealing range of seating options either on gravel or grass.
