Hotel Review
The Wheatley Arms, Ilkley, Yorkshire
On a quiet residential road leading up to the famous Ilkley Moor, this Victorian inn is now a smart pub-with-rooms, and a popular hang-out with the (well-heeled) local community. The semi open-plan ground floor bar and restaurant has a modern country-pub style with eclectic furnishings and log-burners in large fireplaces. Ladies-who-lunch, dog-walkers and after-work business folk all happily mingle.
Food is above-average pub classics and there's a good mix of real ales. On warmer days, a large beer garden with smart wooden tables and benches, is a popular spot. Bedrooms - some dog-friendly, some quite small and shower-only - are bright with feature wallpapers and all have views above rooftops to moorland.

Style & Character
Perfect for people who want a stylish yet friendly base with an informal atmosphere and where walkers, dogs and children, as well as the less active, are welcome. It's very much a locals' pub and dining place, so you immediately feel part of the community, albeit a smartly heeled one.
Service & Facilities
The inn has a useful leaflet of well-written walking routes; take an exhilarating walk over the moors from the Cow and Calf rocks to White Wells (a former bath house), and down to Ilkley, and return via a duck-filled tarn. Dogs are allowed in some rooms, the lounge, bar and garden.
